Organizational Context:

The Project Manager plays a key role in ensuring ERP related projects are implemented on-time, within budget and to the agreed level of quality, ensuring the optimal use of the project resources and providing a link between a particular project to other ERP related projects, the business and the Information and Communication Technology Department (ICTD). The Project Manager will gradually increase the ERP footprint of WIPO by managing projects based on a repeatable standard methodology.
The Project Manager is part of the ERP Project Management Office (EPMO) and reports to the Head of the EPMO. The incumbent works closely with and supports other members of the EPMO to ensure the overall ERP Portfolio of Projects is successfully introduced into WIPO. As part of the portfolio of responsibilities, the incumbent also establishes close working relationships with business stakeholders and ICTD resources, helps develop WIPO’s Project Management capabilities and may act as coach and mentor to other individuals.

Main duties:

The incumbent performs the following main duties:

(a) Manage the delivery of projects within the planned project timeframe and approved budget and ensuring solutions delivered are sustainable after project completion. Ensure the optimal usage of project team resources.

(b) Ensure project issues, risks and changes are captured, resolved and escalated as appropriate.

(c) Follow the methodologies, guidelines, processes and control mechanisms defined by the EPMO and ensure that work is neither overlooked nor duplicated on other projects.

(d) Lead and motivate the project team and ensure behavioural expectations of team members are established.

(e) Manage the information flows within a project to ensure progress is accurately reported, timely decision making achieved and approval of key deliverables is obtained.

(f) Authorize work within the authority delegated by the Project Board and communicate any potential deviations outside of agreed tolerances to allow corrective actions to be introduced.

(g) Manage and monitor work performed by external suppliers and ensure, along with the Procurement and Contracts Division, that contractual obligations are respected.

(h) Ensure solutions are comprehensively tested, users adequately trained, agreed quality standards attained, defined benefits are achieved and lessons learned captured.

(i) Work closely with business stakeholders to identify, capture and quantify future opportunities for the ERP solutions.

(j) Perform other duties in any of the above areas as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Advanced university degree in Information Technology, Business Management or a related discipline. A first-level university degree plus two years of relevant experience in addition to the experience required below may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Certification in a recognized project management methodology, such as PRINCE2, PMP.

Experience:

At least 12 years of experience undertaking projects to implement ERP or similar software covering areas such as Supply-Chain, Human Capital Management, Enterprise Performance Management, Business Intelligence and Customer Relationship Management.

Experience of introducing Oracle Business Intelligence into at least one organization which involved federating data from multiple sources, implementing complex security requirements, introducing standards and processes to ensure consistency and data quality, establish the support structure to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the solutions after project completion.

Skills:

Understanding of international / public sector organizations.

Demonstrable track record of successfully managing projects teams comprising of internal and external resources providing a mixture of functional, technical and business skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to successfully manage and motivate a diverse team.

Knowledge and experience of change management in relation to ERP implementations.

Competent user of Microsoft Office applications including Project, Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, PowerPoint and the internet, and the ability to adapt quickly to new software.

Languages:

Excellent knowledge of English.

Knowledge of French an advantage.

Annual salary: (Net of tax)
80,887 USD
87,069 USD (with primary dependants)
Additional Information:

– Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.

– Please note that the salary is composed of the base salary (indicated above as “Annual/Monthly Salary”) + the post adjustment. The post adjustment is designed to compensate the differences in living costs, thereby providing the staff with the same purchasing power at all duty stations. It is expressed as a percentage of the base salary.

-Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
