STATEMENT BY THE DELEGATION OF INDONESIA AT THE 26th SESSION OF THE WORKING GROUP ON THE UPR CONSIDERATION OF THE REPORT OF THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA*


Mr. President,

Indonesia welcomes the delegation of the Republic of Moldova and thanks them for the presentation of the national report.

Indonesia commends Moldova’s endeavors to reform justice sector through the adoption of several Laws and Legal Acts and its commitment to develop new strategy on gender equality for 2016-2020. We also note with appreciation Moldova’s commitment to develop a new comprehensive National Action Plan.

Mr. President,

On such positive account, my delegation would like to further recommend the following:

  1. To consider ratifying the International Convention on the Rights of Migrant Workers and Member of their Families.
  2. To strengthen the existing National Human Rights Institution to be in compliance with the Paris Principles and
  3. To expedite the process of establishing a mechanism to coordinate and monitor the implementation of a new National Human Rights Action Plan 2017-2020.

We wish the Republic of Moldova a successful review and in further promoting and protecting human rights in the country.
