STATEMENT BY THE DELEGATION OF INDONESIA ADOPTION OF THE UPR WORKING GROUP REPORT OF THE KINGDOM OF MOROCCO AGENDA ITEM 6 at the 36th SESSION OF HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
My delegation would like to congratulate the Kingdom of Morocco for the adoption of its UPR report. We are also appreciative of Morocco’s firm commitment to make progress in terms of human rights improvement on the ground and its continued engagement in the UPR process.
Indonesia is pleased to note that Morocco decided to accept 191 recommendations out of 244 recommendations received during the 27th Session of the UPR working group earlier this year and 168 out of the 191 accepted recommendations are already in the process of implementation.
Indonesia would also like to thank the Kingdom of Morocco for accepting all of Indonesia’s made recommendations during the Working Group as they are already included in the 168 recommendations that are already in the implementation phase.
At the same token we also would like convey that all of Morocco’s recommendations during the same UPR working group session also enjoyed the support of Indonesia. Such close collaboration demonstrated through the UPR process simply indicates the success of the UPR mechanism where states can work together in a constructive and mutual relation to advance human rights causes.
Last but not least, Indonesia fully supports the Council’s decision to adopt the Report of the Working Group on the UPR of Morocco. We wish the people and Government of the Kingdom of Morocco success in implementing all of its accepted recommendations.
