Mr. President,

My delegation would like to extend its appreciation to the Delegation of the Philippines, a fellow ASEAN Member, for its active and constructive engagement in the third UPR cycle.

Indonesia welcomes Philippines’ commitments in strengthening national measures to address unemployment through the completion of the Human Resource Roadmap for 2016-2022 and the budgetary reforms to enhance public education.

We appreciate Philippines’ efforts in preventing and prosecuting all forms of human trafficking at the national, regional and international levels.

Furthermore, Indonesia commends the Philippines for accepting recommendations to continue bilateral, regional and multilateral partnerships to address trafficking in persons and enhance protection on the rights and welfare of migrant workers and members their families. We also hope that the Philippines will fulfil legislations to strengthen domestic legal framework on job protection.

Mr. President,

Finally, Indonesia supports the Council’s adoption of the Report of the Working Group on the UPR of the Philippines. We wish the people and Government of the Philippines success in implementing all its accepted recommendations.

Thank you.
