STATEMENT BY THE DELEGATION OF INDONESIA 25th SESSION OF THE WORKING GROUP ON UNIVERSAL PERIODIC REVIEW CONSIDERATION OF THE NATIONAL REPORT OF HUNGARY*

May 4, 2016 Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues

Mr. President,
Indonesia would like to thank the Delegation of Hungary, for their comprehensive national report.
We appreciate efforts of the Government of Hungary in strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights through establishment of Inter-Ministerial Human Rights Working Group and adoption of new constitution on fundamental human rights. Indonesia also commends Hungary’s accession to the OP-CAT and participation of Hungary in raising human rights awareness through the annual Budapest Human Rights Forum.
Mr. President,
 We would like recommend Hungary the following:

  1. Develop and implement a National Action Plan for Human Rights to further ensure systematic and comprehensive approach for the promotion and protection of human rights, with full engagement of civil society,
  1. Strengthen efforts in addressing issues of irregular migrants in the country in line with international human rights law obligations,

To conclude, Indonesia extends its best wishes to the Government of Hungary in their future endeavors towards the promotion and protection of human rights at all levels.
