STATEMENT BY THE DELEGATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA DURING THE ADOPTION OF THE REPORT OF WORKING GROUP ON THE UNIVERSAL PERIODIC REVIEW OF DENMARK*

June 24, 2016 Human Rights and Humanitarian Issues

Mr. President,
My delegation would like to extend its appreciation to the Delegation of Denmark, a fellow CTI Core Group Member, for its constructive engagement in the second UPR cycle.
Indonesia welcomes Denmark’s continuous efforts in strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights and appreciates the measures adopted in preventing discrimination, intolerance and racism, among others by accepting our recommendation to enhance promotion of dialogue among societies, including inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue in the country.
We recognize that our recommendation on the consideration to ratify the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families (ICRMW) was noted. Thus, in the future, Indonesia encourages Denmark to continue taking necessary initial steps towards the ratification of the ICRMW.
Finally, Indonesia supports the Council’s adoption of Denmark’s UPR Report and wishes the people and Government of Denmark success in implementing all its accepted recommendations.

Thank you.
